Kyle,
Sweet shots. My digital is so restricting so I broke out my film camera. I'll see if I have any luck as soon as I develop the film. It's so weird saying that since using digital.

Thanks and I would hate to think how much I save with Digital. I took over 5000 shots with my past camera over less than 2 years. I am already over 1200 on the new one.

Digital is great, but unless you invest in a good digital you'll only get so so results. I have a Sony Cybershot 5.1, and a Canon T-70. Overall the T-70 results are awesome the digital is really good but lacks the depth and, like I said, too restricting. That's why I had the post about the clear glass. I couldn't get a crisp shot through the glass.

Which Cybershot? 717? If so its a great camera, and I took a number of pictures with the 707.

Nope, it's a dsc-p10, don't get me wrong I like it alot, but when it comes down to quality I think my film camera is better. Check out my site, the pics are ok but not "Wow" quality by any stretch. I took them all with the Sony. I'll invest in a digital SLR as soon as I done with paramedic school.
Mike

Oh yeah I amended the way I listed your link.

I'm borrowing the Sigma version of that lens, 105mm 2.8. Trying to decide if the Canon is worth the extra $$

here is a ok review:
http://orchideen-kartierung.de/Macro100E.html

They really liked the Tamron, and in some cases it was clearer than the Canon in their tests. I have seen great pictures out of all three, but chose the canon for both picture quality and build quality. The Tamron and sigma ones have a cheap feel so I have read, but I have not tried them myself.

I have a question for you Kyle. What do you think of a digtal Minolta Camera? The resaon I ask is that I dont know to much about any camera but I have a nice Minolta 35mm that I have a 100 to 300 zoom lense for and was told that you can interchange the lense between the 35MM and the digital. Was looking ot the best buy website and their is a Minolta that is 8MP for 850 and a lense for it also for another 900. Just wanted an opinion on what you thought about them. I cant afford it as of now but look to possibly get one in the next year.

With a lot of DSLRs you can use older lenses, though some need sent in to work properly, and some will not work at all. So its tough to say if your lens will work. Do you know if it is a high quality lens, as many of the name brands also make some cheaper lenses. My point is if you had a $1000 lens then I could see sticking with Minolta, but if it is only $100-200 don't limit yourself to just that brand,

You can read camera reviews here:
http://www.dpreview.com

If you looking for a DSLR I would say stick to Canon, or Nikon, but if you want a great point and shot look into Sony. Its all a matter of what features you are looking for. Do some reading before you drop $1000 and you will not be let down.

Kyle is right...Minolta is ok but unless u have $1000 lens i would look elsewhere. Cannon and Nikon are putting out very nice DSLR. I personally have a Nikon D70 and love it. i've easily shot over 2000 pics with it and i've only had it for about 5-6 months.

Plus I dont know how much money you have planned out to spend on a new DSLR but Nikon is releasing the D2x in January something like 12.8 megapixel and 5+ frames per sec. I'm sure it wont be cheap, but you get what you pay for with these cameras. As Klye's pics show its well worth the expense!!
