Default Help with sexing powder blues

Hi everyone, I have two powder blue tincs that are only about 8 months old now, but I figured I'd see if anyone with any experience might be able to help with sexing....this is my first time attempting to post pictures, so I hope it works!

Frog 1

Frog 2

congratulations Betsy,
It looks like you have yourself a pair. Frog 1 with the broken lines is unmistakeably male. Frog 2 with solid lines looks very much like a female, however with them being 8 months old can't guarantee. Keep an eye out for the male calling, you'll probably see it before you hear it... Pretty soon they'll be breeding.

Yeah! I thought they might be a pair, but wasn't sure since I am new to the hobby. Not that I know anything about breeding tincs or dart frogs in general, but it will be fun (if they are indeed a pair) to see what happens. Anyone else have any opinions? I haven't heard any calling, is it common to hear tincs call? Will it be loud if I do hear it?

YEAH BETSY! Those frogs are looking great! I would agree that 1 is a male, looks very similar to the parent male. Number 2 kinda looks female, wait and see I guess. Even if its not, your chances with that third froglet are great of getting a pair out of the trio. I saw my male call before I heard it, actually I saw the females riding him before I saw him call or heard it. The call is a very soft electric buzzing sound which is hard to hear with a lid on the tank. Put a petrie dish under the cocco hut and they will take care of the rest really. Read up on how to care for the eggs so that when the time comes you know what to do. Good luck!

Thanks, Daniel! By the way, these have just been the coolest frogs ever, they are not at all shy and even come running when I open the lid and call to them when I am feeding them. The little froglet is currently living in a ten gallon set-up, he is much more shy but his colors are just amazing! I just finished rigging up a PC fan for my 40 gal. tank and hopefully the two older frogs will be in their new home soon!
