Default My 10g Vert

Been gathering stuff to build this for about a month now - Started working on it a couple days back -

I might try and put in the bottom glass portion of the tank front tonight so I can leak test it tomorrow

Pretty much a FTS

a bit closer

lit by coralife 2x9w (saltwater) lighting - I'm going to swap out the actinic for another daylight bulb - I think looks kinda cool though for now with the bluish tint

Substrate will be lava rock, orchid bark mix and sphagnum - I'm gonna call some relatives in MS and try to have them ship me some magnolia leaves - Will probably get to order some plant life in the next week or so.

What do y'all think? I'm pretty proud of myself

Looks like a good start. What are you planning on putting in it?

Since it's only a 10g, I figured on trying to find a couple imitators or other thumbnails - Nothing that's grow to big, to fast -

I'm still kinda researching frogs - I was just having some much fun creating the viv!

I have a local breeder that I'm gonna go visit to weigh my options

I'm open to suggestions too!

Hey, I love Imi's, I have a trio of Lamasi Panguana's and I love them.(they are a thumbnail also)
I love intermedius Imi's

BTW the tank looks like it is off to a good start.
Just my 2 cents, Curt.

I like the wood formations--they provide some nice planting opportunities. Good start... keep it up and you'll have one great looking tank.

Thanks for the kind words -

Leak tested last night and it passed - I then proceeded to attach the "door" to my viv - I'm using an acrylic hinge and silicone.

Had to tear that off though and my vent piece too. I didn't like the silicone job I did (to many bubbles) and I have a slight gap between the top of the glass and the bottom of the vent (Vent was installed before the door) - Vent will be repositioned to close the gap

So this weekend, I have to scrape the dried silicone off my hinge and vent and try again - Good weekend to do it too - Weatherman has us under "winterstorm warning" tonight thru Sunday

I'm anxious to get this part done - I have my lava rock, orchid mix and sphagnum ready to go - Next weekend is another rep/amph swap - I hope to pickup a few small plants - I'm probably gonna place an order with Antone next week too

I got the front glass and vent re-installed and will begin with substrate tonight!

Question though - I am going to put in a little "pond" in the from left corner of my tank -

Does the pond have to be "lined"? I was considering using some of the mesh left over from the vent or window screen (substrate divider) to hold back the lava rock and substrate, hold it down on top with "slate rock" and hold it down (on bottom w/aquarium gravel) - Will this work?

Oh yeah - concerning the gravel - Reckon it'd be okay to grab a handfull from my occupied aquarium (freshies) - Giving it a rinse first of course!

Thanks

My first Plantings:

fts w/flash:

fts w/o flash:

brom#1:

brom#2

There's another brom to the right of the branch - It's stuck in the moss / orchid bark substrate. It's moist, but not soaking - Is this ok down there?

Lot's of moss I know - I'm guessing that a lot will die off.

Lit currently with Feit Electric 100w PC equivalent (6000k) - Is this OK for now? Would it be better to use a 2x9w 6700k?

Thoughts?
