Default The New Viv is 80% Complete!

After a few issue with the GS/silicone wall, I managed to plant the new viv this weekend.

The reason I say 80% complete is that it seems to need more plants on the wall (to cover my sloppyness  ) and the frogs are not here yet. The current plants are Anubias "Nana", Java moss, Dwarf mondo grass, calathea "Freddie", Monstera, Neoregelia "Darkest Hour", and Begonia "Blackheart". The Dracula lotax has yet to arrive due to last week's snow. If anyone has any suggestions for other epiphytes, I will be happy to hear them.

Your viv is looking great, I agree that you need more plants on the back wall. I think that you need a bright colored brom or something in there though, it looks pretty plain, put the lights on top and it might not look so plain though, I bet that is the only reason it looks like that.

BTW what type of frogs are you getting for it?

Curt.

That Begonia is amazing I want one now. I thing a good plant to cover your back wall would be a sort of a creeper like creeping fig oak leaf form

This will be the home of 4 Gold P. Bicolor. You're right about the broms, maybe a couple more Neos. However, the monstera will grow like philodendron once it settles and without pruning could be 5 meters long.

Frog10, the begonia came from a Valentine's Day clearance at Wal-Mart. It's hard to believe such a nice begonia was only $1.25 The one near me had loads of them. You can't see it in the pictures, but the leaves are almost reflective metallic red.

How big is your tank? What is it, a 29 gallon? why not try some epiphytic anthuriums?

Thanks for the suggestion! It looks like a nice plant, but my viv is only 20 High. Would Anthurium gracile work in that smaller space?

Nice site Cesar,

It should be called welcome to the land of giant aroids though. There arenít many viv plants there. Iíd like to plant one of those Borneo Giants on either side of my front door this spring  .

Instead of keeping more species, why not do more with the species you keep?
