Default New pumilio shot via new MACRO lense

So, how was everyone's christmas? Mine was pretty darn good. I received a speed light and a new macro lense! This is one of the shots from the test run with the lense. It's kind of hard trying to get close to these little guys when there's glass in front of you, and when they're smaller than an inch. I've noticed that on 2 of the individuals, that the spots are more of a darker brown than black. The lense, for anyone interested, is a Sigma 105mm F2.8 DG.

Here's what I mean by small, but of course nothing compared to retics (which I hope to be my next frog ):

That lense is really very good. What's the camera you're using?

Wow. As if your pics weren't execellent enough already...

I sure look forward to more with this new lens!

How much light did you have with that first pic? Seems to have lots of depth for a macro...

The tank is normally lit with a 96w PC fixture. When photographing starts, I add another 130w to the lighting that way I can get more depth. So all in all, 226 watts of PC lighting.

Just a suggestion...
You're pics are pretty good, but if you are going to add lights to photograph with, I'd go with some high quality halogens instead.

For those of you that have never seen you're vivs illuminated by halogen light, try it, and be prepared for a nice surprize...great color rendering, and ultra crisp...

Not meant to hijack, just thought I'd mention...

I am still somewhat new to dart frogs, so just a question for you. What kind of pumilio are those? They are really pretty!

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely keep that in mind. The pumilio are the "bastimentos" form.

They definitely appear to be different than most Bastis I've seen (or seen pics of).

Yeah, a lot of the newer basti imports look kinda "bronco-ish" to me...definatly looking different thant the ones that came in a couple years ago.
