Its my first attempt breeding mantellas, I recently recieved a pair of brown mantellas. Has anyone had success breeding them? My male is calling like crazy but no courting so far.

I am having the same problem with my Painted mantellas except for months now. If you find a solution let me know and I will try also!

Mantellas should have a cool dry period from Oct-March. 8 hours of light, misting once a week, smaller feedings and not as often. Then in March you increase the photo period, increase the misting and the feeding. My betsileo have bred every summer along with my other mantellas. Mantellas are seasonal breeders.

So would you recommend, in the cool dry period,a small drop in humidity? More air flow?

My friend Ryan Carr bred Betssilio like crazy, he could barely stop them. He kep them in a long tank, 36-48" with a slow stream that meandered through. Low growing plants, leaf litter over the entire bottom.

This was 12 years ago, but I think they were in larger breedign groups, like 5 or 6 individuals
