Default To Costa Rica!!

So my dad and I are planning on going to Costa Rica this summer, can anyone give us any info on this? We are looking into it, and will be asking about it at the WADS meeting, but we don't really know what to look for. What has everyone else done when they go to CR?

If you have specific questions I can help out. I lived there for a while, so that's what I did.

Hmm specific questions: Which airlines to take, where to stay, any websites to look at, things like that. Also, how to get around and where to go.

I've always flown delta-- I found it to be the cheapest for where I am. The airline doesn't matter really-- get your best rate. To get around the country you can either rent a car or take the busses, which you choose depends on your budget and the time you'll be there. I rode the busses most often, which is very cheap and pretty reliable. You can go most places for around $5-$10 tops in the busses. Car rentals start at $35, but I wouldn't ride in anything cheaper than $50 a day. As for where to go, it depends what you want to see. D. pumilio is on the Caribbean, D. granuliferus on the Pacific, and D. auratus all over. There are also Colostethus scattered around, but they're slightly more difficult to find. I suggest getting a travel book and doing some reading up on the country. I never had one, but I looked at some friend's guides and they were well worth the money. There is also very good surfing and snorkeling at the beaches. Also keep in mind some of the cloud forests and volcanoes.
