Default One amazing newt!

I just love these guys and they are EVERYWHERE here in Washington. They are probably one of my favorite species to find, right up there with Ensatinas.

Awesome! I grew up catching those by the bucket when I was a kid down here in Oregon as well.

Same here! Honestly, I'm not sure how I'm still alive after all the ones I (not so carefully) handled as a kid.

Oh man me too! I remember they had an odor to them. Thinking back, I also recall hearing a story about certain pacific natives who used to offer a tea that was made of water that these pacific/California newts were boiled in, to their enemies! After all of my camping trips as a kid, and sitting down to eat lunch at the picnic table without washing my hands after handling literally hundreds of those guys, I shouldn't be alive!

Thats so cool, We don't have poisonous newts in Wisconsin but always caught all of what we do have and caught a bullfrog that was easily 14" from nose to toe stretched out once http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/WildlifeHabi...up=Salamanders we have a lot of natural peat bogs in northern Wisconsin, get lost for hours up there

This post actually gave me an idea, we should create a post here somewhere highlighting amphibian conservation efforts in your regional area, if you know of efforts being made than post links to those efforts 👍 that highlight local species.
