Default Tracy Hicks

Another well respected Frogger, and more, passed away today.

Respects, and Rest in Peace, for Tracy Hicks.

A terrific artist, a great frogger, a finer man.

I'm struck by the silence here.

If you didn't know him - you really should have.

Gee Scott, I am sorry, might I have met him at a NY Frog Day? Did he post here on DB? No offense intended, dude. My sincere condolences about your friend.

He wasn't just "my friend".

He was a long time frogger, who often used frogs in his art.

Friend of Matt M., Tim P, Todd/Christina, Greg/Amanda Sihlers - myself.

You know, the long time froggers who have pretty much been run off from here (with a few exceptions).

That's likely the issue.

Also a very large presence on FrogNet. And how about this post on FrogNet. Joe Hickson "introducing" Dendroboard.

I don't visit her often, so I did not see this post until I came over here from another discussion we had.

Tracy will be missed. Frognet is such an important achieve of the hobby and Tracy was a big part of it. Between his art and his frog work there will be a lot of people missing him.

Another big loss to the frogger community, Tracy will be greatly missed

Its hard to believe that we've lost two great froggers in such a short time period now. I never had the chance to meet Tracy, nor have I had any direct contact with him, but I do know of him, his art and his frogs. It really is sad to see these great people go, but our loss is heaven's gain as they say. That is something I truly believe in.

My condolences to all his friends and family,

John

Hey Scott,

no disrespect intended I`m sure.
We have many new members here and like you said a lot of our founding fathers and mothers are gone. Thanks for sticking around.

Personally, I`ve never spoken to Tracy but I do know of him and I`ll keep him with me

He will be sorely missed. An integral part to frognet. He was always enlightening to talk to granted all of our communications were digital. I did have the chance to talk to him once over the phone many years ago. Picked up my first pair of imitators from him. While I didn't get a lot of his art, his recent work on "skin" has been intriguing. You can check it out on his website:

Thank you for your hard work, compassion, and interesting viewpoints Tracy! We lost one of the greats.

Don't think I had much if any direct interaction with him, maybe in my first years here...but definately heard that name often over the years. To many old timers gone, to many sad days lately.

Best wishes to his friends and family, and thanks for the good he did in and out of the hobby.

His obituary in the Dallas News.

Quote:
Four years ago, Hicks became part of the Smithsonian’s Artist Research Fellowship Program, which allowed him to “make friends with all these scientists,” Fitzgerald said. “And they fell in love with him, because he was so immersed in the study of reptiles. He got very involved with the demise of the amphibians. Amphibians are dying by the millions all over the planet.”
The man was amazing. I'm proud to have called him my friend.

I was very sorry to read this on frognet yesterday. I never had the pleasure of meeting/speaking with Tracy, but I always enjoyed his posts to frognet, and I've been amazed by his artwork for many years. Condolences to his family and friends.

A great writeup/eulogy of Tracy Hicks.

Please read it - especially if you didn't know who he was.
