Default Disappointing Solarte death

About 15 days ago, in an effort to get my proven Solarte pair breeding again, I borrowed a bigger viv. from a friend (an 18" cube exo). The tank was well grown in and they must have been comfortable...the male started calling all the time again, and they laid eggs three days after I moved them.

Twelve days later, I have three tadpoles nearly ready for transport. I checked the eggs today and fed them, at which time the male was his normal, active self. Tonight, when I went to clean the glass on the top, I found that the screen the glass was resting on had a hole in it: the male had crawled through, gotten stuck between the screen and the glass, and cooked. Poor guy. Just venting my disappointment now that I have three perfect tads and no male. Guess it's time to look for a proven male Solarte...

Sorry for your loss, that's got to be disappointing! Maybe the female will continue to feed the tads and you'll get a male out of them. I bought a new tank for my standard lamasi and I'm scared to move them. Don't know how I'll catch them and if the stress will kill them.

Sorry for your loss!

What were you keeping them in before? For me even an 18 cube is a little small for pumilio....

Don't give up on the larvae. Over here it's not unusual to seperate the male from the female, so she can do here thing undistubed.

That stinks, sorry to hear it. I am paranoid about things like that happening.

Female will continue to raise the tads into froglets with out the male. And that sucks.

Sorry for the loss. I came home after a long day very tried and fed the frog and went to bed. The next day I found that one of my Solartes had tried to escape just as I was feeding and I missed it and squished him in the lid! God, I hated myself for that F-up! So, sh#t happens and we have to learn from our mistakes.

Good luck with the tads. Richard.
