Correct, 'intermedius' is a term used to reference R. imitator that mimic R. fantasticus, and usually referring to a pattern that is blotched rather than striped or spotted. In case you haven't seen it, the Dendrobates.org species profile is a great reference: http://www.dendrobates.org/imitator.html

As for which one YOU should get? Totally personal preference and up to you. I personally prefer the coloration of 'intermedius'...but there are many who prefer the 'nominat' variations.

I couldn't decide on imitators or leucs. I went w/ the imis. Love them. Although, I assume the intermedius will be much easier to find in the tank than the imitator, so I guess if I had the xtra bucks I'd have gone w/ the intermedius. But that's just me and I'm sure you thought about that already.
good luck w/ your decision. One's like this are always hard to make.
Oh, why not just man up, get another tank and get both?

I have both. After getting Imi's I fell in love with them and found some Intermedius within a month. I am sure you will be happy with either.

^^^^^AGREED! My intermedius are out way more than my imis. They are in a larger tank than the imis, so that could be part of it. Either way, they are both great frogs.

I agree that I see the intermedius more in my tanks also, but I think it is partly because they stick out better against the leaves etc. When I actually look in the imi tank, they are quite obvious and in the open. Also, at least in my case, the imitators call more than my intermedius. By like it was said before, they are both great and I think it is just a personal preference, even partly based upon color.

I Pm'd you of a couple breeders but you could also contact some sponsors to see if they have any available. Also, keep in mind that you probably won't be able to get any shipped with these weather conditions so you may have to wait or get them locally.
