Hello All ...
I have a group of Santa Isabels that just started breeding ... (i have a male currently transporting tads and i found 2 clutches of 20+ eggs ea.)
I currently added my other 3 females to the group today (they started breeding within an hour after adding them) and i noticed the breeding female looked different from the other females.
After some research and speaking to a few others, i suspect this female of being a "Salvias" and not a "Santa Isabel" that she was sold to me as. (I will add, this female was purchased from a completely different person than my other SIs ... so they have different lines. He got this female from Ron McGee and my SIs are Sean Stewart line)
I did not want to take any chances, so i pulled the suspect female, and euthanized all the eggs and tapoles produced by her and my male SIs.
I searched every inch of their enclosure and i am POSITIVE ive found every egg and tadpole.
I know i probably was a bit preemptive in my reaction, but
I WILL NOT ruin my name by producing hybrids whether its accidental or not.
I spoke to the person i got them from, and they swear they are almost certain that it was a SI, but like i said, im not taking any chances.
Just want all of your opinions. Thx.
Female In Question: (About 1yr old)
The other SI females: (they are about 7mo old)
