Default Where is the Taron thread?

Ok before I totally get my panties in a bunch over this if it is my fault then I'm sorry... but I can't find the thread.

I know it was locked....I'm fairly ok with that. If some stuff needed to be edited, then depending on what it is... that might be ok.

Deletion is WRONG (unless it is porn or something)... Especially when we have an infamous previously local guy who may have sold frogs under false pretenses or identies and I write a post about how I have no association with him...only to have it disappear.

So if I've just been inept in my internet skillz then ok, my bad...but if it has been deleted...your bad.

Well regardless if an individual said something in one or a few posts... I do not agree with thread deletion except in the most extreme cases like porno or something just vile with accompanying graphics probably.

There needs to be transparency and accountability (IMO) in the hobby and on the forums.

Is this what we can expect from the new owners?

If so then consider this an almost 10 year member (I forgot my original account password/username first year I think) who was relatively happy with how things were run during those 10 years possibly giving you strike 1 verticalscope...if the thread doesn't come back in some form. Leave it locked...I don't care about that much, but let the thread stand.

Does it matter?

I was talking about the recent one..... The Thunderdome one was awhile back, ya basically I'm disappointed that one got taken down too... at his request (as I understand?), when he himself appearantly started it...I mean if you start a feedback thread to show how you've changed for the better and it gets filled with stories of how you haven't...that needs to be seen.

I'd like to stay out of all this but being probably the 2nd best known dartfrogger from Oklahoma (there is one guy here with dartfrogs that is way way way famous, but for geckos)...I don't want my name/frogs associated with the person at the heart of this drama. I do hope that somehow he finds a way to truly turn over a new leaf.

To me when it comes to thread removal being allowed, you set up a situation where anytime someone doesn't want info/feedback to be public all they have to do is post a bunch of nastyness, or get someone else to do it for them, or start a new account...bam thread gone, all that helpful info that may have protected people....gone

So what else is new. This site constantly changes or deletes feedback posts/threads. And the rules of leaving feedback are flawed anyway.

Only good things are allowed......reference all the ass kissing.

I agree with Greg. It's sad when I think of all of the people and frogs that could've been helped by leaving up so many of the posts and threads that I've seen deleted over the last few years alone. (And not just Taron/DFC!) I love this site for the information I've obtained. But all of the hidden agenda every time you turn around absolutely infuriates me! I don't understand how people can say they want what is best for the hobby and yet still this all continues to be hidden from those who don't know. I guess they get to learn as I did when I started...by watching frogs die and losing their hard-earned money because certain things need to be kept hush-hush. (For what reason...I still don't understand.)

Okay...I've held this in for a few days...but now I've said my peace and hopefully will feel a little better. To the new froggers out there...I am sorry.

Thread deletion and this "only positive feedback" attitude that seems to be pervasive throughout this forum is the exact reason why I am currently fielding PMs from a couple new froggers who appear to have just gotten burned.

Im doing what I can to help them... but if this had been allowed to be addressed months ago when many of the seasoned locals caught on to what was going on... We might not be in this situation. We all knew we couldn't address the issue on the board because it would be censored... now 2 new members of our community are hurt. So I have to ask... When will this stop? What will cause the line to be drawn in the sand? How many people need to be hurt?

I understand that nobody wants to be liable for "slander" or anything like that, but can't we put something in the user agreement that makes sellers accept that through advertising their frogs for sale on this board... they understand that they are subjecting themselves to potential negative reviews being published and that they will not hold the forum liable? Im no lawyer, so I may be wrong in thinking that would help... But something needs to be done.

Its already case law that a "site" cannot be held responsible for "user generated content". This is just a forum, and to a certain extent, the owners are not responsible for what we post here, with some exceptions.

This came about when yelp was sued for having negative reviews up. They were sued by angry restraunt owners and lost, because yelp and other sites that allow reviews, are not responsible for what users post.

Taron/DFC could TRY to sue DB, they would lose. Taron/DFC could TRY to sue users, but they'd have to PROVE libel AND loss. The legal fees would be more than his two bit operation with fancy graphics and bought facebook likes is even worth.

Guys did we forget the rules? Feedback has a place, and we do not allow threads like this either. They offer "0" value to the site, and since it is impossible to give everyone a moderators or admins perspective we are wasting time trying to explain it. This again is not new. I know everyone wants to push the limits with the new team taking over but lets take the time to remember we are here to talk about frogs. There are place to go hog wild about a specific person but it has been our history that those conversations to not add value to the site or community as they are normally fact-less and one sided.

We allow feedback i the proper section after it as been reviewed to be fact based.

In this case the old threads in question were in reference to a "past" business and removed at the ask of the owner. We have addressed the new business and consider the issue over and done. In short its dead here and lets move on.
