Default Just wondering....

Probably a dumb question but why does the Moderation team have to approve a post for the music thread in the Lounge?
I`m not trying to start anything, just asking.
Thanks.

Because of the recent runaway spam - they're trying to pre-preemptively catch some spam. If a post is suspected of being spam - it gets caught in the moderation process.

Youtube links appear to trigger this more often ...

It's not really working well enough at the moment. Seems like it catches more innocent posts than spam posts.

Wouldn't the issue be more easily resolved with expanding the number of mods? Let's face it, spammers are pretty hard to prevent short of interrupting the organic communication process on most forums, and it makes more sense just to deal with them as they show up (which is a simple case of man power). Going the technical route just invites an headache

hell, you don't even need to make these people full mods. Just give them the ability to remove posts, threads, and put a few hours hold on an account

PS it seems you guys are getting one to two spammers daily? That isn't even a major issue

Well when the spammers only have to wait 30 seconds to post a spam thread while the spam reporters have to wait 60 seconds to report them, it's a losing battle
epiphytes etc. likes this.

just seems more an issue of a poor approach in dealing with it and people getting overly worked up about it.
