Default Screen vent above front window?

I plan on creating a long narrow piece of screen in the lid of the tank along the front window. My question is how wide should the screen be to allow enough ventilation to keep the front window from fogging up, but not too large to dry out the tank? It's gonna be a 29 gallon with a false bottom and a small stream and pond.

It depends on how humid your house is and how often you want to mist. I make mine as small as possible and it works great for me.

that should be fine. Mine are about an inch to 2 inches, but I wish they were smaller.

There was an interesting tread of frognet about vents on tanks. Some people swore that there was no way they could have them where they lived because the humidity was to low and the dank would dry out way to fast. But others really needed vents to cool the tanks down.
