Default Need Help Deciding: leucomelas or tinctorius?

I've narrowed it down to these two, but I can't decide. Initially I will be keeping just the one specimen singly in a 20H horizontal vivarium, and later I might try to find a mate for it.

Any personal experiences of the activity patterns, behaviors, personalities, etc. of these frogs would be greatly appreciated. It seems that all the YouTube vids I found of these frogs where just feeding behaviors, and didn't really show how the frog would normally act for most of the day.

It seems that leucomelas is generally a pretty active frog and it has the classic PDF beauty, but I really love the intricate color pattern of the tinctorius 'Suriname Cobalt'.

Thanks once again!

Cobalts- larger, more terrestrial, very quiet
Leucs- loud but pretty call (males only of course), more apt to climb

both are really good choices for a first frog.

I would say leucs if you dont want to worry bout territorial issues.

I figured territorial issues wouldn't be a problem since I will be keeping it singly for at least a few months?

Does one frog seem to have more of a personality than the other? For instance I have found that in reef aquaria, gobies seem to be 'thinking', and watch you whenever you approach, whereas tangs seems pretty dull.

Thanks for the help so far! If I were to decide on a tinc, would a 15g long be fine since they are primarily terrestrial?

Tincs often chase themselves out of their own territories :P

My azureus pair owns their tank... they are all over it all day, and if I walk up to it they'll approach the glass and stare me down until I feed them.

I have Azureus also. I open the glass door and start saying "where are the froggies" and they pop out and sometime take a big jump right to the front of the tank and sit there waiting to get some flies. They also own there tank and know every bit of it up and down. Most will say luec's will climb more but i got to say mine climb just fine. However i think luec's are next on my list.

Yeah, thats what I figured. I mean if I could I would get all of them, but it's possible these might be my only frogs for a while.

Anyway, I decided on leucomelas. I had originally planned on getting them, and it was only a few weeks ago that I started thinking about tinctorius. I figure there must have been a reason I decided on leucs in the first place, and will stick with it. Plus the fact that they climb, can be kept in groups, and have nice call.

Thanks for the help.

Leucs definitely. They're the 1st of my dart frog collection, but I've had them for about a year and I still find myself stopping to watch them during the day. They all seem to have their own personalities, as weird as that may sound
