Default first thumbnail

Just planning ahead and doing some thinking...

Between the fantasticus and imitator:

Which is a better dart for thumbnail beginners?
Which is more bold and visible in a tank?
Which is easier to breed?
And I've skimmed over a few care sheets and can't seem to find more precise info on temp and humidity requirements... can somebody help me out?
What can i expect to shell out to get one or the other?

imis are i believe generally regarded as being the less difficult of the two. mine are very shy though. i may see them once a week. they are also usally cheaper than fants which range from $85-450 whereas the imis start at about $40-50 and end at about $200.

honestly there are probably some better choices of first thumbnail that will be as cheap as the imis but more bold. im sure another member can tell you more since im pretty new to the whole thumbnail thing as well.

I would check out intermedius - the boldest thumbnail I've worked with by far, fairly easy to breed, and not too expensive (around $70-80). Mine spend a ton of time rooting around in the leaf litter right at the front of the tank.

my first thumbs were vents and I couldn't be happier, they are bold and always out and about. they are a great beginner thumb, they breed easy and they are reasonably priced.

my male imis is quite bold, where as the female is always in the leaf litter hunting springs. I got a great deal on beautiful frogs at 70 bucks each which is mid range pricewise for nominant imis, but they are awesome. You wont see fants at that price. Humidity requirements aernt any different than any other frog, but you have to keep things pretty optimal because a smaller frog can dessicate much quicker. And you have to keep water in their broms and/or film canisters if you are trying to breed them. As long as you can do these things, and have plenty of springtails, you are set.
