in one word: no

the sheer amount of possible spread disease is bad, combined with sallies penchant for cooler temps

solution: fish

I'm guessing you're thinking about getting an axolotl (ambystoma mexicanum). They need temps below 70 to do well and create a lot of waste, and are BIG when full grown (~8 inches)...and if your frog ever hit the water he'd be swallowed whole.

If you're not concerned with disease transmission, I think the African Dwarf Frog would be the closest thing to a salamander you could get...but still not a very good idea. It definitely wouldn't eat your frog, but could pass along chytrid or a bacterial infection.

Fish are the best idea, like HunterB said

Do not mix salamanders with frogs at all. Certain newts contain high levels of toxin that will 100% kill your frogs. Here watch this video. It is a little different because the frog eats the newt, but same principle can happen through transmitting through amphibians skin from newt to frog.

YouTube - bullfrog vs newt

belive me. I know of someone who thought it would be cool to put a emperor newt with a baby turtle. I warned him of not to. THe newt killed the baby turtle from being stressed out and using the same water source.

Have you thought of shrimps? There are a lot of shrimps out there that are pure vegetarians, so they wouldn't eat a tadpole. They clean up the water area pretty nicely also and tolerate a wide range of waterquality (pH, temp etc.). I've kept a group of cherry shrimps with great succes in a 2 inch by 48 inch watercompartiment.

Most weird looking fish will get pretty big (Elephant Nose, African Butterfly, etc) but a couple of hatchet fish might be ok... What kind of filtration will you be using? Whatever is using that water source will need good filtration (especially if they're crustaceans). I do have to agree with Suzanne that there are some very cool looking shrimp out there. Brian's Tropicals carries some: Ohio dart frogs and fish
