Default Quick quick question.

I started producing melanogaster FF's May 22nd.
And I've seen some changes in my cultures, my quick question is.

Are those while little dots sticking up against the cup the FF larvae that will eventually emerge as a mela ff?

If yes, then my cultures are producing very well
I've had them for exactly 7 days now which I've read that is about the time where melanogaster takes to produce.

If that's the case then things are going well
Thanks

Yep. If you look really closely you should be able to see the tiny maggots crawling around in the media. If you are seeing REALLY tiny white dots they may actually be mites.

I've found that my cultures really start to boom at about 2-3 weeks. It's dependent on temps so there may be a bit of variation with your results.

Good luck!

Yep, when I put my cultures on top of my vivarium lights my production starts around 3 days.

Cultures are kept at around 75-77 depending on the weather.
But that's good , didn't see any mites.
I have josh's frogs media and it seems to be working well.

I should have pictures of frogs to show you guys soon enough now.
Got everything ready

glad to hear you're looking at getting your frogs soon. It's about time!

My maggots tend to stay really close to the bottom, so if you look at the bottom you'll see white things moving around those are them.

It depends on temps and how many ff's I put in to begin with for my cultures to boom. If I need one really fast I put three hundred in, keep them around 78-80 and I've got a booming culture in a week and a half to two weeks. If I'm just preparing a backup culture I'll put in 30 at a normal 72-74 and it takes a longer time for the life cycle. Sounds like regardless of your method you've done it the right way.

They're probably baby springs. Baby springs are really really small.

Next time you may want to post your own thread as the OP question wasn't regarding springs, this question doesn't really apply here. Don't worry, it happens pretty frequently
