Default Hey Guys

Im new here, and have not yet purchased a frog yet. I was thinking of a leucomelas. Im purchasing an 18x18x18 tank. Some of you may have seen them... New from hagen. @ doors on the front and ventelation on the sides. (planning to keep humidity up with waterfall, fogger and misting by hand).

I have a begonia, 2 pepperomia, a sheffalera, and 3 air plants (tillandsia). Planning a gravel then soil, then on top of those layers, moss layer for substrate. i have some logs as well, and also, i have a fake rock wall for the back of the tank...

The thing that sucks is... my parents are only allowing me to get one frog. Will this frog be as confident on his own as you all say the leucomelas are?

any other input on my setup would be appreciated as well.

Thanks, Geoff

The leucs I have are very bold. I don't think it would matter to any of them if they were "only frogs". After an initial settling in period, your new charge should be fine.

Geoff,

A Leuc is a good first choice - once it becomes aclimated you will see a lot of your frog. Ours were very shy at first but now are fairly active in their terrarium. I think we might have a male-female pair based on his calling and their behavior but we'll keep our fingers crossed on that one.

In terms of your parents only letting you have a single frog, perhaps they are seeing if you take good care of it before saying yes to others. My advice is to show them how well you can care for your frog, and unless they are totally immune to the beauty of PDFs, perhaps you will convince them to let you have some more down the road  My mother was totally opposed to my snakes many years ago and now is a docent for a major zoo and loves snakes...go figure....

Good luck!!!

Elmo
