I got a 24x24x18 terrarium off Ebay and will be picking it up tomorrow . My thought is a couple Auratus. Do they do better in pairs ore groups?

Welcome aboard.

They do best on pairs.

That's a nice size vocation to start with. :-)

Good luck with the build :-)

I don't think I would use a 24x24x18 (LxWxH) unless it was set up in a way as to be able to view at least 3 sides of it without obstructions. That is a deep area from front to back. Or, planted with all the plants towards the back so there'd be a good viewing area up front.

Thanks for the heads up, I will keep that in mind when building. Based on location it will be viewable from 3 sides.

Just and updated on the size, the guy had it listed as 24x24x18 and it was hard to tell from the pic he posted. However it is actually 24x18x24.

The monsoon mister will likely stop working in a year or so, they don't tend to last long, and once they're broken there's not much you can do to fix them. But it'll probably be nice to have for awhile

Would a mistking be better? or is there another option that is more reliable?

Mistking is generally regarded as THE option for automatic misting. That said, if you have an option that is working then I would keep using it till it's not. No reason to buy a whole new system when you have a competing product already.

There are multiple reports both on Amazon and chamforums of Monsoons failing 'on' and flooding vivs.

Mistking and Climist are reliable -- they are basically equivalent and both are high quality products, and differ only in the style of timer.

Mist King systems are very well regarded amongst users of this forum :-).

I have one and LOVE IT (have only had it for 2 months)

Thanks I have seen mistking mentioned many times on here as a good option. I'll have to look into the other option as well. I will probably use the monsoon initially as I plan to set up the tank first and let it sit with plants for a bit so I can get some experiencing with keeping the right parameters before I add the frogs.

This is a great approach.

You should practice culturing fruit flies too :-)

Here is the stand for the Vivarium. Just finished it yesterday. I plan to put the Vivarum on the right and some plants on the left side.

More added to background today. I just have to shave off some of foam tomorrow after it dries a bit more.

I like the little cave in the middle :-) In my experience, the only thing you can say for sure about putting effort into something like that is that the frogs will never use it. Ingrates.

Mine use the cavelike pieces that I've built into my tanks. Use them a lot actually.

Greetings,

I'm late to the misting system party but: The monsoon will fail, as others have noted, BUT you can use it with a digital outlet timer. Mistkings are great systems (I have 3) but if budget is an issue a $10 digital timer off of amazon can make a monsoon system functional and reliable.
