Default Help with water fall build!?!

I am building my first Viv and I don’t understand how to go about building the waterfall. Just put a small pump in the drainage layer and let that be water fall? What about filtering water?? Do you treat the water? How often to change out the water?? Is there a pump/filter that will work?

Welcome to the board, James! The questions you are asking are pretty well-explored territory on this board. I suggest you use the search bar above to find some of the numerous topics that have covered these questions. There is a real wealth of information on this board but you will need to do some reading. As always, it would be wise to start in the beginner's section where there are some great stickies with links to tons of threads.

Best of luck,

Mark

First viv? My one piece of advice, besides what Mark said, forget the water feature! It's the first pitfall that most beginners make, and generally results in a less than ideal environment for the frogs and many extra headaches for the keeper.

If you want a natural looking water source, i took a manzanita branch and carved out a deep trough and lined it with silicone. looks really nice and serves its purpose well.

1st viv?

Don't build a waterfall or crazy water feature. It will most likely fail and sour you to the entire hobby.

All the best breeders and long time members of this hobby don't use 'water falls' or big water features. Must be a reason why....
