Default Keeping Patricia and Aureus together

So I started out buying a pair of Aureus and Patricia dart frogs and a 18X18X12 terarium off Craig’s list, I did not really want the setup but I drove an hour and a half and the young man was clueless what the big brand store sold him. My plan was to build a bigger Vivarium and I did, and I put the Aureus in it. The Patricia’s are in the other Vivarium. I will be leaving town for a vacation and I was wandering if they could all be placed in the larger vivarium to make it easier for a frog sitter. I know the Aureus will be aggressive to the new additions but will they injure each other? They would be together a week. Actually if some one wanted a pair of Patricia’s and a small Vivarium I would let them go reasonably.

Combining the frogs into one tank might make it easier for your caretaker, but you may well come home to fewer frogs. There are very real risks to the frogs fighting/killing their new tankmates to establish territories, and/or transmitting pathogens, and/or breeding to produce hybrid offspring.
In short, keep the species separate, and make your frog sitter spend the extra 30 seconds to feed two enclosures...

I agree with Dane.

You may not have the time to plan for this for your upcoming absence, but in the future you might just skip the sitter. I leave my multiple vivs (thumbs, leucs) alone for a week without issue. A week without FFs is no problem for a healthy frog, and I restrict ventilation for that short time and moisture levels stay tolerable.
Ravage and Tijl like this.

Thanks guys, I kinda figured that but thought I would ask. They are not fully mature but I am sure they are established enough they have become territorial. Thanks for letting me know they can survive a week without ff , there is a good springtail population so that should help.

How long are you gone for? Put a screen mesh over a mason jar of flies which are about to hatch in each tank and you are good for a couple of weeks depending on how many frogs you have.

Opps, just saw you are gone for a week. Frogs could go for a week without actually being feed. Most folks over feed their frogs as well.
