Default Another question on Temp

I was thinking about knocking a hole in the sub floor and installing a fan to bring up air from the crawlspace to the frog room. Nasty things live in crawlspaces. In this area there was a sewage leak two years ago.

On the positive side this is Denver and if its not raining the humidity is around 40% which does help to limit the micro varmits that live in dark places.

Could I used a basic window/squirrel cage fan, or should I just mount a low rent air purifier to exhaust into the room?

I assume you are trying to get cooler air into your frog room?
I would use a small window fan. Your problem is going to be trying to get it installed on the underside of your floor, since it will be hanging upside down. I would also put fine screening of the hole to keep out those unwanted critters. You might also try a fan that they use in duct work. It might be easier to install.

Actually I was thinking fart fan (12$) at home depot with a short length of 3" duct - nothing too big. My main concern was more along the lines of molds, spores, bacteria etc........

Thanks - Brandon

I hope that was a miss spelled word. I don't think I have ever seen one of those, though it would have been nice to have one in the bathroom when my father was still alive!!!

You could put a small fan in the floor and duct some tubing into the basement. You could then seal the end with fine mesh to keep things out.

I have thought about using this method to bring air in from the other side of my basement which is cooler.

It would be interesting to bury some tube in the ground and use that to cool the air.

Yeah. Some flex hose a few feet underground would probably really make a difference. I was thinking about cutting up a high end furnace filter for screening, then just laying that over the intake of the fart fan rather than the normal faceplate.....If it burns up the motor then oh well its a 12 dollar fan....as long as it doesn't burn the house down......
