Im new to the hobby, but i think they do the same thing just in different ways. but with the mister you get to water your plants while you raise your humidity.
Foggers are nice visuals, and do help to keep the humidity up. However, nothing is better for the frogs than a nice, pseudonatural rainfall. Also, some plants like having their leaves wet for a bit.
if by the same thing you mean raise humidity then yes,but a fogger makes fog and a hand pump mister doesnt it just creats a mist of water droplets im not sure how well a fogger will water the plants as i dont use one
When i used a humidifier it worked great but after a while fogged up the tank to much for my liking, but i put it on a timer and then misted the plants occasionally. I think both are great, I just like the misting, i put an automatic misting system in and it works great. http://www.cloudtops.com/mistpumps.htm
Misting also cleans any frog poop or debris off of the leaves and glass. This can't be achieved with a fogger, so you will still have to spray it once in a while. Foggers do look cool though and you can always do both.
