Default i hope i'm doing this right

:?

ok so now that i have eggs i want to make sure i'm doing everything right and that everything looks ok so...

first of all, my eggs turned out to be black in the middle, is that good or bad?

and secondly, i think i put too much methylene blue in the waterthat is in the petri dish, it was just a drop but it turned out really blue, so i very gently used a turkey baster and got some of it out and added more to dilute it.

am i doing things right or am i killing my eggs?

Azureus eggs (assuming these are the same eggs from your earlier post) should turn dark all over if they are fertile. Black in the middle sounds like a description of infertile eggs but given the diversity of descriptions that people use for egg appearance, I wouldn't be throwing them out. A good rule of thumb is to hang onto any eggs until they either develop or are clearly infertile.

A drop of methylene blue in the petri dish water is a tad bit too much but I have used that much before as an experiment with no ill effects....I found that the intense blue precludes any decent observation of egg development and I didn't enjoy hatching out blue tadpoles  Removing some of the water and diluting was a prudent move.

Good luck and don't be discouraged if your frogs don't get it right immediately...sometimes it takes them a few times to figure things out.
