That looks promising! It seems to be common amongst galactonotus to be a bit rough when slipping into mating behavior.

Well that sucks, but I do feel I see that type of behavior more frequently when mating occurs. It can be female/female male/male and female/male doing the wrestling days before eggs occur. Just thinking positive for ya!

Good looking frogs. Have you asked Sean to send your email to the others that got moonshines from that shipment to see if you can trade?

Pinging your moonshine thread Josh to see if you had any luck with these animals. There was a recent inquiry into "white" galacs which reminded me of your work with moonshines. Any luck with them?

Oh I am so very happy this thread got dug up! This proves that just 4 to 5 years ago -before taron ever brought in moonshine- these animals were here in the states and nobody cared!!!! No uproar on how they're illegal, also I'd love to point out that one of the bigger names in the hobby was also selling these SMUGGLED frogs.
Just my humble observation.
Carry on
P.s. if the o.p. ever sees his post, I hope he did have luck breeding these. Now those offspring can be bred with the 'new' animals and the bloodlines can be diversified.

Moonshines and blues are two totally different localities and the moonshines have been in the states just as long as the yellows, reds, oranges, etc. The blues are still a “new” locality to the US and still smuggled.

Yea cmk, I don't know if it would have been possible for your post to be more off-base.

Moonshine galactonotus are not Blue galactonotus. The blue morph was recently discovered in 2013 and once the paper was published, some smugglers went and found them and brought them to Europe. It devastated the small population at the time, but according to locals, luckily they appear to have rebounded.

From Marinus Hoogmoed:
Quote:
Breeding stock of blue A. galactonotus was illegally exported from Brazil in early 2013 (I informed Brazilian authorities of this, but they were not able to solve the case, although they apparently made some inquiries), just after publication of an article by me and TCS Avila-Pires reporting on this blue morph.
As Zach mentioned, the moonshine morph has been in the hobby for many many years. The important point in it all, is that while we can't undo the past- we shouldn't keep making the same mistakes and we shouldn't keep bringing in new morphs we know to be illegal.

I stand corrected with my head in my hands. I thought that they are one in the same. All the pics of the blue galacts I've seen are exactly the same as the moonshine.
