Default bulkhead fitting question

what's the word SLIP mean next to the different sizes?

reason being, i want to pump water up through the bottom of a container. you can see what i mean in the attached pic. i'm just looking for a way to attach 1/2" clear tubing to it, and if i'm not mistaken a bulkhead is the way to do it. i'd just slip the hose over the 1/2" threading and put some sealant around it right?
