Are the snails actually causing problems?

Folks have had success using Sluggo (or other brands of iron phosphate snail bait products) to control snails. I'm not sure the buying new moss strategy is good, since you'd have to ensure the new moss is clean (purchase of tissue cultured moss, maybe?)

I'm sure a good picture would help direct the advice.
I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and self-contain'd.
