Default Orchid Prep

Hi All,

I am in the process of having 8 orchids shipped to me from Vancouver BC and am doing my research on placement etc when I remembered prepping them to put in the tank may not be as easy as broms and ferns etc.

I have read that scale, mealy bugs and spider mites are the 3 main 'pests' that can affect orchids. I am not sure if a 5 or 10% solution of bleach is ok for a dip, or if an RO dip for an hour or more is safe, or even doing a CO2 bomb is safe? Also I read that doing a spray down of the roots with RO is good practice to remove any of the salts from fertilizers that were used for it's cultivation.

How do you all prep your orchids once received before mounting in the tanks?

If I missed a thread about this in my searching, let me know the link.
