That odor was so powerful. All five floors, basement and a 20’ radius from the building were effected. The physics department was especially not impressed. At least chem and bio students have an appreciation of smelly things.

The odoriferous smell is probably 10 hours. It’s a function of female flowers trying to attract pollinators. After that, the stigma goes non receptive and the male flowers up. By staging the flowers in these phases it avoids self pollination.
