I have seen screen tops for octagonal tanks made with vinyl screen and velcro. I used the idea to make a top for a small odd shaped tank that I have (in the photos). I used ribbon for the frame since it is flexible, and material glue (found at any craft store that is waterproof), and self adhesive velcro around the top of the tank. You can also use hot glue to attach the velcro to the tank if you don't get the self adhesive type. It's pretty easy to make.
