Hi Ed. Thanks for the response! My concern with installing a bulkhead is that it would require drilling through the glass. I'm scared of the glass fracturing while drilling because of the terrarium contents putting pressure on the glass. Also I won't have access to the false bottom layer at the back wall of the terrarium (where I'd ideally like to install the bulkhead) due to all of the substrait and foam background.

The foam background does have channels to run tubing down to the false bottom. Is there any way to easily siphone water out using 1/4" tubing that I could run down this channel?
