Put the plants in the back of the tank and leave the front part open. I have leucs and pumilio so I don't have to worry about this too much but I know it works (back when I had auratus). Mist and then feed them, but put most of the flies in the front. They come out to get them, realize that nothing is going to eat them, then stay there for a while. You can also have some standing water (in a small dish or something) in the front, which sometimes helps.
