For the ones staying in tank, you can supplement their foods, but usually the areas they are in are grungey with all sorts of yummy stuff, so you don't have to feed them as much. I usually just check their body weight... if they are nice and round without my help, I won't feed them extra. If they aren't nice and round, I'll feed them a little bit to keep them round. Really depends on how many tads in the area, and if the pond is over grazed or not, and I don't want to add to much food and mess up the water quality... it's a little harder to do a water change, lol.
