New revisions, amazonica or variabilis?
After the revisions of some Ranitomeya species, I'm curious to know which populations of "ventrimaculata" are now variaiblis and which are amazonica.
According to the paper the populations from French Guiana are now amazonica, as well as populations within the vicinity of Iquitos in Peru. Everything else is now variabilis.
After looking at where some imports came from, it looks like this is how the reclassified populations fit:
amazonica - French Guiana, Cayenne, old line Red, old line Gold, Iquitos Red-Orange
variabilis - Blackwater, Rio Napo, Rodyll, Borja Ridge
Thoughts?

I think you should ask Mark Pepper to lay it out for us because he's a co-author of the paper.

That looks about right to me Adam......I have only read through it twice and like to read through it 4-5 times so it can sink into the thicker parts of the skull, but from my reading of the amazonica and variabilis what you have described looks right...Although I cannot say about the old red and yellow.......

Is the old line red the same as the Kelly line red amazonica?

Yes, I wasn't sure if there were several different bloodlines for that import so I lumped them together.

I will after the shipment tomorrow. I always feel bad bugging him when they are busy, especially the day they are shipping.

Re: New revisions, amazonica or variabilis?
I am SO glad about this. Now I can ask twice as much for my Iquitos vents (now that they are amazonicas)! I think now they are even a little prettier than yestarday!
Richard.

Yeah Richard, just like my old line UE FG vents, I mean Amazonicas from Josh's. I have 4 tads in the water now.

Re: New revisions, amazonica or variabilis?
According to Mark Pepper I had it right except Blackwaters are actually amazonica as well.

Re: New revisions, amazonica or variabilis?
I have noticed that some Vendors haven't changed the last name on the vents they have just changed the first name, In particular, Brooklyn Dart Frogs (Ranitomeya ventrimaculatus "Rio Napo"). Now I am understanding that this one will be amazonica as well. now will that cover the red head vent one too (Ranitomeya ventrimaculatus "Iquitos"). I just dont like making mistakes that all.
