Unhappy Re: lighting ?

Dont really pay attention to me cause im a newbie but i just asked a similar question and some people responded that 6500k is the best plant growing light and for my 40 gallon they said that i might not even need 100 watts of light so i think those should be good.
Srry that i cant help u more.

Sounds like plenty. If the light reaches the places you want it to, you should be good to go. 200Watts seems pretty high so watch your temperatures.

Ok. as long as you in viv temperatures are where you want them and your getting light where you want it, you should be all set.

the 6500K is what you want for plant growth, everything else is just a matter of preference and temperature control.

That *should* be enough for the broms to keep their color. There are many factors that go into this though... how close are the lights going to be, what covering do you have on the top of the tank (thickness of glass, any coatings on the glass, type of screen), are you going to have reflectors on the lamps so as to concentrate the light into the tank, how far are the broms from the lights, will the broms have color when you get them (much harder to get them to show color, then to get them to keep color IMO).

Finally, there are no true standards for how they market those lamps. Each company pretty much has their own standards and ways in which to measure those standards so you may have to experiment a little since you probably do not have a light meter to check them with.
