That's what I get for not refreshing the tab before I reply. Jim's pic is the one that looks like Fireball, no clue what the second one is.

Once they have a decent sized stem, they can be cut and will root. I don't place the neos in soil, but pin the stem to my background, log, cork bark, etc. Within a week or two, you'll see white root buds emerging from the base of the plant.

hate to take this discussion off-topic, but I was wondering what type of medium people pot their neos in, when growing in a traditional fashion, outside a viv. And if they actually water to medium, or only fill the cup.

The reason i ask, is that I'm getting conflicting information online

The neos that I showed in the photographs came from a plant I purchased that was potted in a hanging basket and had about 20 pups. I've used quite a few pups from it and it is still growing like crazy. I water both the soil and the axials. I would guess that if you let the soil dry out completely and only watered the axials that the pups would start sending out roots.

But, I am admittedly a brom novice. You might want to check with Alasdair (RarePlantBroker). He could certainly answer better than I can.

Hi!
The plant not is a Neoregelia, is a Nidularium. The diference is by the small spines. The Neoregelia hasn't got spines, and the Nidularium if. I think which plant is a Nidularium inocentii.
Bye!

All Neoregelia have spines (except some clones of meyendorfii). They are small on most but they all have them.

I have had this one outside of a viv for about three months now and wher I got it I thought i would over water it because it was in peat moss so I put in some sphagnum moss like what is used for orchids and I keep the leaves full and the moss moist. It doesn't have spines. In the one picture there was some dust that kind of looked like spines but it doesn't have any.
