Gosh... There are SO MANY plants you could use. There are tons of obtainable plants from SE Asia here in this country. I would avoid Asiatic Green for various reasons. Read Jon's link about his experience.

Some genera you could explore...

Dischidia, Hoya, Ceropegia, Schismatoglottis, Pothos, Epipremnum, Raphidophora, Medinilla, Ficus, Alocasia, Begonia, Piper, Lycopodium, Pyrrosia, Lecanopteris, Aeschynanthus, Scindapsus and it goes on and on...

You should have no problem shopping within the USA. Good luck.

Two really awesome gesneriads from that area are Henckelia and Ridleyandra, not to mention the Chiritas.

Also, many Nepenthes would be suitable, shinglers like Rhaphidophora and Ficus villosa, and all the wonderful groups that Antone mentioned :-)

No kidding- I was actually having a semi-serious look at the place yesterday.

Now all I have to do is find out where to find all the genera listed in this thread north of the border... in the snow...

Of the genera that Antone listed there are many available by some means here in the US. You have to do some digging but they are here. The sponsors here and Ebay are a start but just some online sources are:

Kartuz Greenhouse
Tropiflora
Asiatica
The Violet Barn
Glasshouse Works

I'm not saying they are good or bad but they do have selections from the genera mentioned. Trading with fellow members here is probably the best way to get unusual plants.

In addition to some of the plants mentioned, there are some small, slow-growing, understory palms from Malaysia. I'd recommend the following:
Licuala mattenensis 'Mapu' see: PACSOA - Licuala sp. 'Mapu'
Pinanga disticha see: PACSOA - Pinanga disticha
