Default Types of moss for types of substrates?

I tried a search, and couldn't find what I was looking for. Please direct me to the thread on this if it already exists.

My question is, since there are several types of substrates and several types of mosses,
which do the best with which?

1 My current setup is peat moss/leaf litter on top of the clay pellets, it is constantly wet, has poor drainage, medium-ish brightness, and very little airflow. ---Which moss would do well with this?

2 I'm planning on making a setup that will be false bottom and a well drained soil mix of coco,
orchid bark, will have high intensity light with shade in 1/4 of the tank (under foliage), and will
have computer fans with airflow. ------ Which moss would do well with this?

3 I'm also planning a setup that will be false bottom with just gravel on top and some pothos,
are there any mosses that would do well on this?

If you have any suggestions on growing moss that I haven't suggested, I'm willing to change my
plans based on what works best. Substrate for plants isn't as important to me, as they'll
mostly be epiphytes and other plants that do better mounted.

I basically just want a nice, green, lush, full ground covering moss.

Thanks!

Default Re: Types of moss for types of substrates?

The first and last would be good canidates for aquatic mosses like java, taiwan, etc, or liverworts like riccia. Anytime you have soggy to no soil they are good to try, and likely better than any of the terrestrials offered (which if truely tropical are actually better grown as epiphytes).

The second would be worth trying a true tropical moss like the stuff Black Jungle sells... they need substrates that don't hold moisture (the air has plenty and the mosses hold moisture well) and the high light areas with good airflow would be ideal, tho I wouldn't bother under the shaded areas, just leave those as leaf litter.
