Tillandsia spent flowers?

I know with many types of plants you "deadhead" (ie:remove) the spent flowers to encourage better plant growth and stronger blooms in the future. As the subject implies, is it beneficial (or even harmful i guess) to remove spent flowers from tillandsia plants?
Or is it that once a tillandsia flowers its done flowering forever and instead produces a pup, that will in turn flower?

As far as I know, Tills only flower once. I'd remove the spent ones if you can, it would help keep them from rotting and possibly introducing unwanted fungus and mold.

Removing spent flowers from orchids might help the orchids get better blooms in the future, but broms and tillies only flower once. Maybe cutting those off will help with better pup production?

Cutting the inflorescence can get these types of plants to pup, but as was mentioned above this can lead to rot. At least for broms, what I have done based on what I read was to cut the inflorescence and make sure that area stayed dry for a couple of days to prevent rotting. Seemed to work.
