Default New Phyllobates Species

The "Red" form of Aurotaenia are now thought to be a separate species from the other morphs.
Recent genetic work has them more closely related to Terribilis than to Aurotaenia.
A description of the species is being prepared by Adolfo Amezquita.
I can't wait to read the official description when it comes out.
Very very interesting indeed.

Those were in some pics someone took at the Cali Zoo and made a thread here on DB, I remember because I commented I had never seen Auro's that looked like that before. They look like chocolate bodies....and Easter is right around the corner.

Love the multi-color flecks on the legs. Very nice.

I got the opportunity to see these in person, (part of Professor Amezquita's collection at the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota) they are absolutely gorgeous and the pictures don't do them justice.

I posted a crappy pic of his group in the care sheet thread-

Any further info on the new specie's name/description?
