Our newest house guest.. He is still learning the boundries of being a good guest (like not to pull on the geriatric cat's tail...) otherwise he is a good dog.

Not so adorable at the moment as he is making a fuss about wanting out of the crate and he can be very loud and ear piercing.. In case you were wondering, he is a Shikoku Ken (some references call it a Shikoku Inu) and his current name is Rocco but we're probably going to change it.

Very Nice Ed. I was wondering if you had ever found a dog. How big will it get?

The ear piercing noise similar to the Shiba Scream? My wife had to wear ear plugs when she bathed our first Shiba. He was so loud I would have never bathed him if it was up to me. The new Shiba is much more tolerant of water.

Since we never tried to show our shibas, we rarely had to give them a bath. They are amazingly clean dogs, no greasy coat, no stale dog funk..

I've had shibas for more than 17 years at this point and I have to say, that yes this is far far worse. For being another spitz breed from Japan, he is has less of "how do I get the big pink monkey to do what I want" and "if I don't want to do it, what are the chances the big pink monkey will make me do it" thought process than the shibas I've been around. The differences are really striking on a side by side look since he is so much heavier boned than our shibas (and our shibas are from stock that got pretty large (our male is close to 40 lbs and much taller than the standard) and larger at the shoulder and head. The breeder thinks he'll get to be around 55 lbs or so.. he still has some growing to do since he doesn't fit his head or paws yet.
