Default Question about GS backgrounds

I see a lot of people incorporate net cups into their backgrounds. My question is......where does excess water drain? Or is it just that there isn't a lot of excess water in the first place.

Just something I was curious about and if I should incorporate net cups into my background.

Thanks!!!

You will want to use a straw or some tubing that runs from the bottom of the pot, behind the background and into the substrate. Most likely, without drainage, your pots will full up.

I use bamboo skewers to poke holes through the bottom of the cup and out through the gs. Other people include airline hose sections for drainage...but thats a lot more work than just poking some holes. I use about 1/3" layer of turface in the bottom of the net cup to help prevent clogging of the holes. This method has worked well for me thus far.
Good Luck!
