Default Needing a 24" Fluorescent Fixture

Fluorescent Fixtures: Power Products 24" Strip Lighting Fixture [5629746]

This is the only one that I've found so far. Not really what I'm looking for as I'd kinda prefer something I wouldn't have to set the glass directly on the wire of my metal shelving. I have a three tier unit that fits my 10 gallon PERFECTLY and I noticed that Wal-Mart had 24" Daylight and 24" Plant Grow and Aquarium lights, providing both ends of the spectrum. I need something that I can house these, or other more recommended bulbs in, on top of my metal shelving without problems. Can someone please direct me to an exact location hopefully via links that I can find what I'm looking for as well as maybe an exact recommendation on better bulb choices than what I'm looking at. I'm affraid that at this point a 48" would be overkill.

Thanks in advance.

I'm wondering if I should just buy the 24" Grow Light sticks that have plastic on the front of them. I just would be worried that the plastic would filter out some of the UV's. What are your opinions?

The plastic will definitely filter out the UV as much as 30% so i woudl not use it. Avoid shielded fixtures at all cost, i have some fixtures that came with a shield and i removed them.

I'm thinking what I'm going to have to do is buy another one of the small racks that I got from Wal-Mart that fit a 10 gallon PERFECTLY, get another ten Gallon, build another viv and then buy a 48" Shop light intended for hanging. And then lay it over the top of both. This would give me a tank to keep a pair seperated before determining sex and then allow me to introduce them, have a backup for froglets and/or for quarantine. Unless anyone has another idea, it's looking like that's how I'm gonna have to go.

Before catching any flack about the 10 gallons, I suppose I should point out that I'm starting with a pair of either Oyapoks or French Guiana Cobalts, which I have heard good things about for 10 gallons (of course I'll be planning an expanded build when I can but starting out I'll work with what I can in a 10 gallon setup. Thanks again guys. Looking forward to any further suggestions.

I notice that you are looking for something to hold a 24" tube but what is the length of the enclosure or shelving you are trying to match? Have you considered lighting used for aquariums?

The link below is for a single tube fixture, you can get double tube fixtures also and can find these at pet stores. The 30" fixture would hold a 24" tube (for this particular item). With more research you might be able to find something that works just right.

Thanks for the recommendation! I did due a measurement, and two shelving units would be about 47 inches acrossed. Each unit is a little under 24 inches so a double unit with two 10 gallons I think will work perfectly. I got my first viv set up (pictures to come eventually) and am just waiting on making whatever lighting decision before I start plants. Thanks again guys.
