Default Stainless Steel Racks

Since my frog collection keeps growing, I am thinking about getting one of the industrial stainless stell shelving units. I found one I like at Sam's club that is heavy duty. I was wondering if it is capable of holding a 30 x-tra tall tank (w/ 2-3 gallons of water) and 5-6 10 gallon terrariums? I would place the larger tank on a lower shelf, but would it be too heavy? I just want to condense my tanks since they are all over my apartment now.

I think the per shelf rating on most of those racks is about 300lbs, and I know that 5 10 gallons wont weigh anywhere close to that unless they're completely filled with water.

The ones from sams are great thought i think the weight limit is a bit higher. I will say that the sams ones are a bit better built than the lowes or home depot versions.

Yeah I think it was heavier duty, plus a little cheaper. It is $75 at Sam's Club. I am thinking it will be better to organize my tanks and plants which are taking up every available windowsill and shelf in my apartment. Plus than I can make room for more frogs.

Now all I have to do is hope that my landlord doesn't have a fit. Usually I move my smaller tanks to my bedroom and close the door if they have to come in for bug spraying or fixing something. Pets are allowed here though and mine don't ruin the carpet (my son has done a good enough job of that).

Has anyone called a racking supplier and asked for pricing on used racks? I work in warehousing and I know you can get the used pallet racking real cheap, but I never priced the racks. Aso, used restaurant supply stores may have them. Just a thought.

From years ago and working in a restaurant, everything they buy is about 2x or more that the consumer version. Most store even go to sams or places like grangers due to the high cost of some items in restaurant supply stores. Now I like the used idea and I think some people have picked up some nice used ones from stores going out of buisness sales.

The one I got at Sam's club was actually rated for commercial use and each shelf can hold 600 lbs if correctly assembled. It was very heavy but somehow I got into my car, luckily a neighbor helped me up the stairs to my apartment. It was easy to put together and looks really nice. I'll have to take some pictures and post them.

I would add that I highly doubt that these are Stainless Steel. They may be chrome plated - but no way are they Stainless Steel.

I think you are right, I just think of that since it is shiny metal and I am no hardware expert.
