Default Stringy coco fiber

I'm looking for the stringiest coco fiber that doesn't have big chunks in it. Anyone know which brand I'd be looking for? I've seen several and I'm not sure I've found the right one yet. Eco Earth seems to look good from the closeup I've seen on a website. All I know is I want stringy background but I don't want chunks of coco chips stuck in it if possible.

You can find it at most nurseries, they sell it as potting liners, the kind you put the substate into directly, and then into a wire pot. It works great as that, so i bought some 4x4 foot sheet at my work. (a nursery) Im going to maybe use it as part of my drainage layer. Its about a 1/4 inch thick, and maybe i'll use 2 or 3. Also theres a company that sells it to about an inch thick, their called wicking mats or capilary mats, from some hydroponic company. If you want me to tell you exactly who it is, PM me, and i'll find it out for you.

I'm actually looking for the compressed bricks not the mats (if that was what you were referring to). I bought a bunch of loose fill coco strings but they're fairly thick and not quite what I was after.

Most of the compressed brick products (I've used the Zoo med and Fluker's brands) expand into a nice, ground cocofiber. I have yet to find any chunks in either of them.

It's the strings I'm looking for. They look like little hairs coming out of them. When placed on a GS background it makes the background look hairy as if roots were growing out of them.

They all have it some just have more and some vivs I see look almost shaggy because of it. This is the look I'm going for.

I did my background similar to what you want.

I used the chunky brick- exo terra I'm pretty sure... Once expanded and dried, I ran it through a blender.

Then through a strainer. The holes in my strainer are about 1/8"

The blender broke up the chunks, and small pieces of coco fall through the strainer, but leave the stringy stuff behind. The strings are generally about 1/2-3/4" long

I molded and shaped GS "branches and roots" which were covered in the stringy stuff, and the rest of the background covered in the fine stuff.

What I am about to use which I believe is what you are looking for is called "crop circles" and the website on the package is Hydrodynamics International Premium Horticultural Products, I purchased mine from a local hydroponics store here in Maryland.

There's an interesting article on coconut fiber production here.
How coir is made - Background, History, Raw materials, The manufacturing process of coir, Byproducts/waste

I read it to mean that the stuff we use is called coir pith, which is a byproduct of the production of coir, which is long and stringy, like whats used in the coco mats.
