Post show your automation systems

there are a couple of automation projects around and i think it would be nice to have a thread where people can show what they are working on and get/share some information on the whole automation topic

so lets see all those amazing automation setups you all are building!

so here is what im working on, it has started with some simple setup and with the amazing Raspberry Pi Vivarium, Grow Room & Greenhouse Controller tutorial and software from nate which got me going. thanks nate

and it now im pushing my limits with this project, it includes everything from electronics to hardware to software and is a real challenge but im doing small steps and so far it goes forward at a slow pace

this was about a year ago when i started playing around with the setup

and this is last weeks status, as you can see its a bit messy and lots of things still missing but got the screen setup last week and that gave a nice motivation boost

i think from here one can see where this is going and im happy for feedback and share information on the project if there is some interest.

After a failed first version of the pcb i got the 2nd version where i hopefully fixed all the issues and added some things that i forgot in the first version.
Im waiting on some parts to finish the soldering so i can test if everything works

Nice work! I'm planning my automation in my head at the moment, nothing concrete yet. But I'll probably go down the Arduino road instead of RPI.

I have thought about making a small timelapse camera (RPI or Arduino) that I can mount inside the viv when it's finished and planted. Would be cool to have a full timelapse of the moss/plants slowly maturing.

yeah that timelapse thing would be really cool, its on my list as well but waaayy down
let us know how it goes with your project, its always nice to see some progression and some new ideas.

speaking about progress, the pcb seems to be working fine this time, the only issue i have is that the IC has the I/O's on high when powered on:/ so i will need to look into this, otherwise im able to switch the relays from the i2c interface and all the hardware controls (buttons, switches, led's) work as intended
"party mode activated!"

oh almost forgot the pics
