Default any interest in driftwood?

I'm planning on taking my puppy down to Lake Superior to run around and was going to look for some driftwood for myself. But I wasn't sure if there would be an interest for anyone else? Because I could look for more pieces while I'm there, bigger ones than I could fit in my tank.
I would sell them for reasonable prices.
But it wouldn't pay for me to collect a bunch of wood if no one would want it.
So.. just thought I'd check

Well, I think if you are collecting them on the beach, that you would just offer them for free with the buyer paying for shipping and maybe a small handling fee....

...at least that's what I would do.

Why sell something you get for free, to fellow hobbyists???

Soft cost- time and energy spent.

that's why I said reasonable, just to cover time and I had planned on cleaning and baking them as well.

But if no one wants to pay that's fine I just thought I'd offer since I had looked for myself on ebay and they were pretty expensive.

I love driftwood! If it is from the ocean, I soak it in my rain barrel for a week to get all the salts out, then dry it in my oven at 250 to make sure I kill unwanted occupants. Such cool forms. Sometimes, I find root pieces that have grown around rocks, so the wood has these cool rocks, or indent where rocks used to be. I also think root wood gives you the coolest knotty( not naughty) shapes and resists rot the best

a lot of people do that, what about all the leaves for sale, they have to come from somewhere. as long as the prices are reasonable and you indicate you were the one who collected them. were you planning on sterilizing them? if you wern't you'de need to say that, good luck!

anyone know how to protect some wood from rot? I found the jackpot of some wood that is the perfect shape for what i want to do but i am almost certain it cannot sustain itself under moisture. maybe some clear epoxy coating?

I suppose you could dip it in some kind of varnish or something as long as it was inert once dried. Otherwise you might just try mounting a ton of broms and ferns and mosses all over it and hope the roots and leaves and moss hides the moldyness. With all the driftwood I find, rot isn't usually the problem. And, if you get some cool mushies popping out of your log, some people pay double for that kind of action.
