Default Advice on drilling tanks

I am redoing my 60+ gallon terrarium and I want to put a drain hole in the bottom. It is a 15yr or older glass fish tank and the glass is really thick, like close to 1/2" thick. I have a diamond glass bit and have drilled many a tank before, but I'm worried about this one. :|

Whats the chance that a tank this age and thickness has tempered glass? Is there any way to tell?

Thanks!

If it's made by AGA or another large brand, you can contact the manufacturer no matter how old and they will know whether it was tempered or not. I'd guess the sides aren't, but on a 60 the bottoms do tend to be. If it's really that thick, probably less likely it's tempered.

I know most 55+ tanks are tempered... so my guess not knowing anything else is that it is. But as stated above, contacting the manufacturer is the best way to know for sure. (if you can figure out who it is )
